Print Wizard – Print Preview

The Print Wizard launches when you click the Print button in any list view or detailed report and when a form is created using the:
Print Form wizard »

The Print Wizard consists of two interdependent panels: Print Preview and Design Report. By default, the Print Wizard always launches with the active print preview panel, showing details of a generated printout by allowing the user to zoom, change the page layout, or move between pages using the buttons in the top panel. To send a print job to a printer, press the Print button located in the top panel (the first one from the left).

Print Layout Design

To go to the Print Layout Design panel, press the Design Report button in the Print Wizard.

Description of the print page structure »

List of Drag&Drop Objects (top of the left panel)
List of variables that can be superimposed onto the page design view (the panel on the right). Objects are placed in a page design by dragging them (with the left mouse button pressed) and dropping them (by releasing the button) onto the required section in the page design view (the panel on the right). The availability of Drag&Drop variables differs depending on the print layout. (The Print Wizard generates nonstandard variables, depending on a print list view, detailed report, or form.)

List of Standard Drag&Drop Variables:
• Text field - A field for text.
• Image - A field for loading an image.
• Line - A line printed on a page.
• Page number - A variable that dynamically inserts the current printed page number.
• Date - The current date.
• Report name - A dynamic default name for the current report.
• List View statistics (only for list views) - Description of List View statistics ».
• Number of records - A variable that returns the number of table records in the Data section »
• Document number (A) - A global variable that remembers performed printouts.
• Document number (B) - A global variable that remembers performed printouts.

Print Layout Design in Practice

Objects placed in the Drag and Drop objects control (top-left list) can be embedded in appropriate page sections by dragging them with the left mouse button pressed. To modify the properties of an object in the page design panel, first select the object with the left mouse button (the selected element is then outlined in red) or with the Selection Combo Box (left side, central combo box control under the list of Drag&Drop objects). Once the object is selected, the left panel will display the properties control, allowing you to make changes. This way, you can edit not only Drag&Drop objects, but also page sections and the entire printed page (margins, paper size, etc.).

Print Page Structure

A printed page is divided into the following sections:
• Header section - This section is printed on each page.
• Section before data - This section is printed once.
• Data section - This section prints data tables. See the description of the Data section »
• Section after data - This section is printed once.
• Footer section - This section is printed on each page.

Data Section

The data section shows the contents to be printed. Data is organized in a single table or in multiple tables, one after another.

To edit the main print data, do the following:
• Click the button in the data section

Once this is done, the dialog box with the settings of printed tables will be displayed (see illustration below).

Configuring printed tables

To edit the how tables are printed, select them first in the left panel of this dialog box. Use the checkboxes to skip tables not to be printed. Use the arrow buttons to set the order in which the tables will be printed. The properties control on the right lets you configure a selected table strictly to your preferences.

To configure columns within a selected table, click the Columns button.

Configuring printed columns

The column editing dialog box has a similar structure to the table configuration dialog box described above. First select the required column on the left side. Then, edit its properties on the right side. You can also disabled unwanted columns and rearrange the order of columns to be printed.

Print Template

The print template defines the entire area of a printed page, except for the data section. Use it to design print layouts according to your or the company's preferences (any text fields, logos, variables, etc.). A template can be saved to an XML file using the options available in the top toolbar of the Print Wizard (the Design Report panel). Templates saved in XML format can also be loaded for selected printouts. To save a designed template as the default template, select the Set as default option. The default template will always be loaded for printouts with the same page size and landscape settings. (Different page sizes and different landscapes require separate default print templates to be saved.)

Print Form Wizard

Print Protocol Wizard

To launch the Print Form Wizard, select the Print Form option from the main menu for the relevant object type (user, IT-Set, hardware, software, license, etc.). You can also select the option from the context menu for a selected object.

The wizard requires you to first select the main object for a form (one or many).

Form
This option allows you to select a custom form, if one has previously been configured. The buttons to the right of the control allow you to create and edit a custom form name. (This will create a new configuration for a custom form under the name.) The "Delete" button removes a selected custom form that was created earlier. It is impossible to delete the default form.

Print Template
Using the buttons displayed to the right of the control, you can load or edit a custom print template. The "Delete" button disables the loaded print template.
See the description of a print template »

Print in Separate Forms
Check this option for each object to be printed in a separate form. There must be more than one main object in a form for the option to be available.

Method of Presenting the Main Objects
There are two ways to generate main objects in a form:

• Object Caption (Single-line object description) - By this method, objects are presented as single records based on their Object Captions. To customize it according to your preferences, press the Customize button.
See Settings > Object Caption »

• Detail Mode - This method generates a property - value description using multiple records.
To customize it according to your preferences, press the Customize button.
See Settings > Forms > Print Object Properties »

NOTE: The Customize button operates dynamically, depending on the selected presentation mode.

Print Related Objects
The main objects within a form can be printed together with their related objects. This way, an IT-Set object can be printed with its related hardware, user with its IT-Sets, etc. To select related objects to be included in a form with the main object, press the Customize button.
See Settings > Forms > Print Related Objects »

Skip Properties with Empty Values
This option allows you to skip records where values have been left blank.

The Print Preview button provides a detailed preview and allows you to customize the printout before pressing the Finish button, which launches the Print Wizard »
