A concise overview of the company’s development since 2005 - from early desktop applications for IT inventory, asset tracking, audits, and computer monitoring to a modern SaaS platform for IT asset management and comprehensive help desk and service desk support in organizations. Codenica was founded in 2005 in response to a very practical need: organizing computer hardware and software in companies that were growing faster than their IT tools. From the very beginning, we focused on developing desktop software for computer monitoring, license audits, and hardware inventory management. This is how Ewida Audit (aka Codenica Audit)(PL) and Ewida Standard (aka Codenica Inventory)(PL) were created - products that are still actively developed and used today by thousands of companies.
At an early stage, we made a deliberate decision to build our solutions on Microsoft .NET and the C# programming language. Stability, performance, and long-term maintainability were critical for us. We wanted to create systems that could evolve over many years without the need to constantly rewrite them from scratch. This approach allowed us to develop our products consistently and earn the trust of customers, primarily from the small and medium-sized business sector.
Over time, however, it became clear that inventory tools alone were no longer enough. Customers increasingly expected not only control over hardware, but also an efficient ticketing system, user communication, and real support for IT processes. At the same time, the technology landscape was changing. More and more companies were moving toward web-based solutions and SaaS models.
These observations led us to the decision to build an entirely new platform. This is how Codenica ITSM + ITAM was created - a solution designed from the ground up as a modern SaaS platform, built on Microsoft .NET, React, and Microsoft Azure infrastructure. Development took several years and involved not only technical work, but also extensive testing, customer consultations, and refining real-world workflows used by IT teams.
The foundation of the platform is IT asset management and a help desk ticketing system, which can naturally be extended into a full-featured service desk. From the start, however, our goal was more than just creating “another ITSM system.” We designed the platform as a single, coherent working environment - with a knowledge base, client portal, internal communication, and an integrated messaging system. All of this is available from the first license, without the need to purchase dozens of additional modules.
Codenica ITSM + ITAM runs entirely in a web browser - on computers, tablets, and smartphones. There is no need to install additional applications and no issues with data synchronization. Users always work with the same up-to-date information, regardless of device or location. This approach eliminates many of the problems commonly associated with separate desktop and mobile applications.
Today, Codenica is the result of many years of software development experience, hundreds of conversations with customers, and continuous product improvement. At the center of our approach is always the user - both the IT administrator and the person reporting an issue. Our goal is not to build complex systems, but tools that genuinely make everyday work easier.
The Codenica ITSM + ITAM platform is not a closed project. We see it as a long-term development path that will evolve alongside customer needs and changes in the IT world. This is simply the next stage of a journey we started over 20 years ago - and one that we continue to develop with consistency and care.
