Every manageable object in the Codenica ITSM + ITAM inventory can be displayed in two different modes: the item view and the table view. In this article, we focus on customizing the item view.

The item view — the default mode in IT asset management

By default, Codenica displays inventory objects as cards. This makes it easier to visually identify items, especially when working with single assets.

The following inventory objects use the visual card view, and they are all configured in the same way:

  • Assets (computers, devices, licenses, etc.)
  • Employees or external Clients
  • Documents (invoices, warranties, contracts)
  • Vendors

Let’s take a look at how easily the item view can be customized using the employee list as an example. On the left you can see configuration options that allow you to choose which properties appear in each section of the item card. To configure the item view for Employees or Clients, go to Settings → Employees / Clients → Customize.

The properties displayed on the example cards correspond to the following mapping:

  • Header → Department → HR
  • Title → First Name and Last Name → Susan Boden
  • Subtitle → Position → HR Specialist
  • Footer → Status and Location → Active and US Division

Customizing the item view in Codenica ITSM + ITAM allows you to present managed assets in a clear and consistent way. By selecting which properties appear in the header, title, subtitle, and footer, you can create a layout that best supports everyday IT inventory work and improves the usability of the system.
