How do you open productivity monitoring?

Open the view from the application menu: Menu -> Monitoring -> Productivity. It shows how activity recorded by the agent on employee computers was classified. In one place you can review productivity score, classified time, productive time, neutral time, unproductive time, unknown time, dominant category, application count, domains, documents and focus switches.

Use this view when you want to verify whether work mostly happened in tools treated as productive, whether unproductive activity is growing, whether some time remains unknown and whether classification rules describe the real work pattern. Productivity monitoring is useful only when the score is read together with categories and details, not as a standalone employee assessment.

The page layout combines an Analytics Panel with a daily records table. The panel groups metrics, rankings, trends, comparisons, anomalies, hourly productivity presence and data quality. A table row represents a daily productivity record for one monitored computer. Selecting it opens workstation and employee details, where you can see productivity categories, classified time, shares, first seen, last seen and active hours.


Daily score in employee productivity monitoring

The daily table lets you quickly inspect how a computer workday was scored. The first columns show productivity score and time split into the main categories, so you can immediately see whether the issue is low productive share, high unproductive time or missing classification.

The key columns visible at once are:

  • Productivity Score - a percentage score calculated from classified time.
  • Productive Time - time assigned to activity treated as productive.
  • Neutral Time - time that does not reduce the score, but is not counted as productive.
  • Unproductive Time - time matched by rules marked as unproductive.

After expanding columns, you can review classified time, unknown time, dominant category, percentage shares, active time, idle time, focus switches, application count, domains, documents, category seconds and last activity. These fields help determine whether the result comes from many short switches, longer work inside one category or poorly matched productivity rules.

Search checks date, agent, computer, Windows user, active hours, dominant category, last item key, last activity, last category and detail content. In practice, the most common filters are category name, an application fragment, a domain or a process name stored in details.


Analytics panel in classified time monitoring

The analytics panel shows productivity for the selected range: day, week, month or custom dates. Total gathers the full time from the period, while Daily Average helps compare ranges with different day counts or different monitoring coverage.

The most important panel values are:

  • Classified Time - the part of activity that could be assigned to a productivity category.
  • Productivity Score - a compact percentage based on classified time.
  • Productive Time - activity recognised as aligned with work.
  • Neutral Time - activity without a clear positive or negative effect on the score.
  • Unproductive Time - activity marked by rules as unproductive.
  • Unknown Time - activity that did not match any rule.

During analysis, do not treat the productivity score as the whole answer. First check how much time was classified, then compare productive, unproductive and unknown shares. High unknown time often means missing rules rather than an actual decline in work quality.


Category rankings in productivity monitoring

Rankings show which productivity categories and which computers or employees contribute the most time in the selected range. They are the simplest bridge from the overall score to a concrete classification source.

This panel area includes:

  • Productivity Categories - the time split across productive, neutral, unproductive and unknown labels.
  • Top computers by classified time - workstations with the largest volume of classified activity.
  • Top employees by classified time - accounts with the greatest contribution to the period data.
  • Top computers by productive time and the corresponding employee ranking by productive time.
  • unproductive-time rankings for computers and employees, useful when you need to find the place that deserves a closer check.

If an unproductive category ranks high, open daily records and inspect which elements make it up. If unknown time dominates, start with rule settings, because the table may contain correctly collected activity that has not yet been mapped to applications, domains or window titles.


Productivity trends and hourly presence in monitoring

Trends show how productivity changed day by day. Separate charts cover classified time, productivity score, productive time, neutral time, unproductive time, unknown time, productive share, unproductive share, computers and employees.

When reading trends, check:

  • whether a lower productivity score comes from more unproductive time or more unknown time,
  • whether productive time is falling while the number of computers stays similar,
  • whether unproductive share rises on one day only or stays elevated for a longer period,
  • whether the change belongs to one workstation or a broader user group,
  • whether domain, document and application counts match the expected work type for that day.

The Hourly Productivity Presence chart shows the share of monitored days where productivity classification appeared in a specific local hour. It is not a measurement of work duration in that hour. A marked bar only means that the agent captured at least one classification occurrence then.


Result comparisons in productivity monitoring

Comparisons place the current range beside the reference period. They show whether classified time, productivity score, productive time, neutral time, unproductive time, unknown time and the number of analysed computers or employees changed.

In the comparisons tab, pay attention to:

  • a decrease in Productivity Score, especially when classified time stayed similar.
  • a change in Productive Time, because it shows the real volume of activity marked as productive.
  • growth in Unproductive Time, which may come from new behaviour or rules set too broadly.
  • growth in Unknown Time, because it often indicates missing classification for new applications, domains or window titles.
  • differences in computer and employee counts, so periods with very different reach are not compared too directly.

If the comparison shows a large change, first identify which category caused it. Then check individual computers, employees and record details. This order helps separate a behavioural change from a change in the completeness of productivity rules.


Anomalies in productive and unknown time monitoring

Anomalies point to situations where the time structure differs from the expected pattern. The mechanism does not judge work content; it compares times and shares saved in productivity records.

The view can show, among others:

  • Unproductive time has a high share - when a large part of classified activity falls into the unproductive category.
  • Unknown productivity classification is high - when a significant part of activity does not match rules.
  • Productive time decreased significantly - when the current period has clearly less productive time than the comparison period.
  • Unproductive category dominates a daily record - when one computer day is dominated by unproductive time.

Anomaly evidence may include unproductive time, classified time, unproductive share, unknown time, current productive time, baseline productive time and productive time decrease. For high unknown time, check rules first; for a dominant unproductive category, open record details and see which elements created that category.


Record details in productivity category monitoring

After clicking a record, the application shows productivity categories aggregated for one day and one computer. Details are not a list of every window switch; they show summed classification elements with share and detection range.

In the details table, review:

  • classification identity: productivity category, category and item key.
  • time values: Classified Time, productive time, neutral time, unproductive time and unknown time.
  • share: Share Percent, which shows how strongly a category affects the record.
  • detection frame: first seen, last seen and active hours.
  • the difference between display name and item key when a classification rule works on a domain, application, process or window title.

Productivity details cannot be narrowed with an hourly filter. The active-hours mask only says that a classification appeared in a given local hour; it does not assign productive, neutral, unproductive or unknown time to single hours. Read details as a daily category summary, not as a minute-by-minute activity timeline.


Data quality in productivity classification monitoring

The data quality section helps evaluate whether productivity records have details and whether detail values match the daily summary. This matters because the view works on aggregated categories, not raw history of every activity.

In this panel area, check:

  • Details Coverage - how many records can open a category list.
  • Records Without Details - days with productivity values but no item breakdown.
  • Current Partial Data - current-day records that may still be waiting for aggregation.
  • Historical Open Records - older entries left without proper closure.
  • Invalid Details - cases where the productivity detail structure cannot be read.
  • Missing Data Days - date gaps in the analysed range.

If data quality is lower, check in order: whether the record is from the current day, whether the agent has Productivity Classification enabled, whether details have had time to aggregate and whether rules leave too many elements in the unknown category. Only after that should you judge the productivity score itself.


Productivity monitoring settings in the agent profile

The content of the Productivity view is affected by the profile assigned to the workstation. In the Monitoring tab, the Productivity Classification section defines whether the agent classifies activity and which rules it uses to assign categories.

The key options are:

  • Productivity Classification - the main switch responsible for classifying activity.
  • Productivity Rules - the rule list that can be added, edited, enabled and removed.
  • Name - the rule description visible to the administrator.
  • Value - the domain, application, process or window-title fragment to match.
  • Match Type - how the value is interpreted: Domain contains, Application contains, Process name or Window title contains.
  • Category - the rule result: Productive, Neutral or Unproductive.

If unknown time grows in the view, it is usually worth starting with productivity rules. Add missing matches for new tools, domains or window titles, but avoid values that are too broad, because one general rule can change results for many computers. A rule that is enabled but has no match value is treated as incomplete and should be filled in before saving.
