How do you open work schedule monitoring?
Open the view from the application menu: Menu -> Monitoring -> Work schedule. It was prepared to analyse how recorded computer activity fits the configured working hours. It shows Observed Time, Expected Work Time, Within Schedule Time, Before Hours Time, After-hours Time, Weekend Time, breaks, overtime and percentage shares of each part of the day.
Use this view when you want to check whether work mainly happens during planned hours, whether activity appears outside the configured window, whether weekends are used for work, or whether the configured schedule matches the real rhythm of the team. Work schedule monitoring is not an attendance list; it is a tool for reading proportions between activity and the daily plan.
The screen is built around the Analytics panel, a table of daily rows and a detail area. In the panel you move through time metrics, schedule rankings, activity distributions, trend lines, period checks, anomalies, hourly presence and quality information; its interpretation is described below. A table row corresponds to one working day recorded on a specific device. Opening the row leads to details for the given workstation and employee, broken down by schedule, workday start and end, and activity type.
Daily table in schedule compliance monitoring
The table helps you quickly assess which days fit the work plan and which ones need closer review. One row shows both observed time and its split into activity within the schedule, before hours, after hours and weekend.
In the basic table layout you will find:
- Observed Time - total activity time included in schedule analysis.
- Expected Work Time - time resulting from the configured start and end of the workday.
- Within Schedule Time - activity that falls inside the planned window.
- Before Hours Time - activity recorded before the local workday start.
- After-hours Time - activity after the configured end of the workday.
- Weekend Time - activity falling on a weekend day.
Additional columns show Overtime, Break Time, Late Starts, Early Finishes, Workday Start, Workday End, First Activity Time and Last Activity Time. Search covers schedule name, working hours, active hours, computer, Windows user and details stored in ItemsJson.
Analytics panel in work schedule monitoring
The analytics panel collects records from the selected range and lets you analyse a day, week, month or custom period. Total shows the full time volume, while Daily Average helps compare periods with different numbers of working days or different data completeness.
The most important panel metrics are:
- Observed Time - all time used for schedule analysis.
- Within Schedule Time - the part of activity aligned with the workday plan.
- Before Hours Time - activity before the local start of work.
- After-hours Time - activity after the configured finishing hour.
- Weekend Time - activity on weekend days.
- Expected work completion - the percentage relation between time within schedule and expected work time.
- Computers and Employees - the device and user coverage represented in the summary.
In practice, compare Observed Time with Within Schedule Time first, and only then read percentages. A long observed time can look positive until it turns out that a large part of work happens after hours or on weekends.
Schedule rankings in working time monitoring
Rankings show which schedules, computers and employees build the largest volume of activity. The default Work schedules list groups records by schedule name, so you can quickly see whether one daily plan dominates the analysed period.
The panel includes:
- Work schedules - ranking of plans by Observed Time, with additional after-hours context.
- Work schedule activity states - distribution of time between Within Schedule, Before Hours and After-hours.
- Work schedule day types - comparison of activity on weekdays and weekends.
- Top Computers - devices with the largest share of monitored time.
- Top Employees - people linked to the highest activity in schedule analysis.
Rankings are especially useful when you want to separate a configuration issue from a real work pattern. If many computers have a high after-hours share under the same schedule, check the workday start and end settings. If one employee or one device stands out, start with the record details.
Activity trends in work schedule monitoring
Trends show how activity compliance with the schedule changes day by day. You can observe Observed Time, Within Schedule Time, Before Hours Time, After-hours Time, Weekend Time, percentage shares of these states and Expected work completion.
When reading trends, pay attention to:
- growth in After-hours Time with stable Observed Time, because it may mean work is shifting later in the day,
- rising Before Hours Time when the team starts activity earlier than the profile assumes,
- a falling Within Schedule share, especially when weekend or after-hours work rises at the same time,
- the difference between a time trend and a percentage trend, because high volume can hide weaker schedule alignment,
- changes after editing monitoring profile settings.
The Hourly Work Schedule Presence chart shows on what share of monitored days schedule activity appeared during a specific local hour. It is not exact work duration during that hour. A marked hour only means that the agent saw the presence of schedule-related activity.
Comparisons in schedule and working hours monitoring
Comparisons place the current range next to a reference period. This lets you check whether after-hours work, weekend activity or the share of time within schedule changed noticeably or remains within normal variation.
In this tab, it is especially useful to review:
- Observed Time - shows whether the overall monitored activity volume changed.
- Within Schedule Time - tells whether more work fits the configured plan.
- Before Hours Time - helps detect earlier starts to the day.
- After-hours Time - indicates growth in work after the configured end of day.
- Weekend Time - shows whether activity outside working days becomes more frequent.
- Expected work completion - helps assess whether time within schedule covers the expected workload.
If the comparison indicates an after-hours jump, move to anomalies and details. If the change mainly concerns Before Hours Time, check the local start time in the profile. With schedules, a small setting change can move a large part of activity between categories.
Anomalies in out-of-schedule work monitoring
Anomalies indicate records or periods where activity clearly differs from the configured daily plan. The mechanism focuses mainly on high after-hours activity, a low within-schedule work share and a significant after-hours increase compared with the reference period.
The panel may show, among others:
- High after-hours activity - when a significant part of Observed Time falls outside the configured workday end.
- Low within-schedule activity share - when, with enough activity, only a limited part fits the planned window.
- After-hours activity increased significantly - when the current period has much higher After-hours Time than the baseline period.
Weekend Activity is available as a metric and distribution, but the view itself does not emit it as an anomaly without an additional organisation-specific threshold. In anomaly evidence, check After-hours Time, Observed Time, After-hours Share, Within Schedule Time, Within Schedule Share, Current After-hours Time and Baseline After-hours Time.
Record details in workday monitoring
When you open a row, Codenica displays the schedule breakdown for one date and one computer. Items are grouped by schedule and work intervals, so you can see which parts of activity were assigned to the daily plan and which fell before hours, after hours or on a weekend.
The details show, among other things:
- schedule identification: Work Schedule, Schedule, Workday Start and Workday End.
- activity time: Observed Time, Active Observed Time, Within Schedule Time, Before Hours Time and After-hours Time.
- additional segments: Weekend Time, Break Time and Overtime.
- percentage shares: Within Schedule, Before Hours, After-hours, Weekend, Share Percent and schedule classification coverage.
- day boundaries: First Seen, Last Seen, First Activity Time, Last Activity Time and Active Hours.
- technical context: Source Type, schedule time zone and source item key.
The default sort starts with Observed Time, so the longest items appear at the top. Hourly filtering does not split schedule durations into individual hours; it uses presence stored in the active hours mask. Treat details as a daily activity distribution against the schedule, not as minute-by-minute working time evidence.
Data quality in work schedule monitoring
The data quality section tells you whether schedule records have consistent details and whether panel numbers can be interpreted without extra reservations. Quality matters here because a mismatch between summary and items can move time between Within Schedule, Before Hours and After-hours categories.
Quality messages can concern missing details despite present counters, invalid JSON structure, items with time outside day boundaries, details not matching the daily summary, the current day still being aggregated or historical records that remain open.
If the warning appears for the current day, wait for aggregation to finish. For older dates, check the agent state, ItemsJson presence and consistency between Observed Time, Within Schedule Time, Before Hours Time, After-hours Time, Weekend Time, breaks and overtime in the details table.
Work schedule monitoring settings
The data in this view depends on editable options in Monitoring Profiles, in the Work Schedule section. The most important switch is Work Schedule Monitoring. Once enabled, the agent can assign activity to the configured daily plan and prepare records visible on this page.
Workday Start Local Time and Workday End Local Time are also key. They define the boundaries used to place activity into Within Schedule Time, Before Hours Time or After-hours Time. If the organisation has different shifts or flexible working time, it is worth creating profiles matched to employee groups.
Additional switches are Track After Hours Activity and Track Weekend Activity. The first lets you monitor activity after the planned day closes, while the second adds the context of non-working days. After changing settings, return to the Work schedule view after the next monitoring day and check After-hours Time, Weekend Time, Expected work completion and anomalies related to work outside the schedule.
